Trying to find a contractor is a tedious task, which not everyone has the time for. The most tedious part is vetting a shortlist of contractors. But it’s not something you can skip if you want to ensure your roof replacement is installed properly.
Luckily, there are a few tricks to quickly finding a qualified contractor. Fortenberry Roofing, a top roofing contractor in the state, lists them below.
Ask for Referrals From Your Friends
It’s hard to argue against first-hand experience. And if friends and family can vouch for the professionalism and competence of a certain contractor, it may be worth asking around for referrals.
As an extra precaution, it would be a good idea to ask for local referrals only. You’d be surprised at how quickly a piece of info spreads in a tight-knit community. If a roofing contractor has consistently given terrible service, chances are the community members and your friends will know and tell you about it.
Make Sure the Contractor Has Insurance and a License
Having insurance coverage will protect the contractor and you, by extension, from legal action in the event one of the contractor’s employees suffers a workplace injury. Meanwhile, a license is proof that a contractor has met the local area’s minimum requirements. Keep in mind that this is just proof the contractor has met the bare minimum.
Check If the Contractor Has Any Certifications
Although not necessary, certifications can boost a contractor’s reputation. Usually awarded by large manufacturers or independent bodies, these certifications are proof a contractor has undergone extra training to widen their expertise. If you want to ensure you’ll only hire the best contractors in your area, check if a contractor has been certified.
